God’s Grace

God’s grace is an amazing, undeserved gift from our Creator. This grace is demonstrated by the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ on the cross (John 3:16). And the depths of God’s grace are discovered the further we travel on our faith walk. It is the heart of our salvation and the guiding light to our sanctification. As we receive this gift, it allows us to become more like Christ and serve through the outpouring of grace we receive from our heavenly Father. Let’s explore some Bible verses that can deepen our understanding of God’s grace.

  1. WE ARE ALL OFFERED GOD’S GRACE

John 1:15 (ESV) For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

God offers the gift of grace and salvation to anyone who will accept Christ as their Lord & Savior. It is free through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. This is why we say our debt has been paid and we are free from sin. It is not through anything we have or will do but through the grace of God and sacrifice of Christ.

  1. GOD’S GRACE THROUGH CHRIST’S SACRIFICE

Romans 3:23-24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

The heart of our faith is that Jesus gave up his life for us. For each of us. The fact that God offered up His only, perfect Son for us is His ultimate story of grace towards all people. It is the first undeserving gift of grace that we accept through salvation. The gift of grace we all have in common that saves us from sin and leads to a life of freedom in Christ.

  1. GOD’S GRACE GIVES US STRENGTH

2 Timothy 2:1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus,

God’s grace gives us hope, peace and strength through sanctification. It is what gives us rest and restoration throughout our faith walk. As we follow God’s path for our life, we will see glimpses of his grace and mercy in our lives. Wisdom and provision guide our lives, blessing us in obedience to His will for our life. His faithfulness gives us strength, even through tough times. Remaining in His Word and path for our lives produces endless, individual stories of grace to be shared with others.

  1. GOD’S GRACE IS TO BE SHARED WITH OTHERS

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

1 Peter 4:10 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

The deeper we dive into God’s grace it should overflow into an outpouring of grace towards others. The hope and light He fills us with should lead us to share the hope and truth with others. His grace in us is what transforms us into someone more like Christ. It gives us the strength to love and serve others well; to do good works and spread God’s light to a broken world. Our human nature makes relationships with others tough. They can be filled with anger, bitterness, grudges, hopelessness, and conditional love. But through God’s grace, we can forgive, love, serve and be stewards of His amazing grace.
